Tips for custom digitizing applique designs

Applique digitizing designs are most commonly found on baby clothes and are extremely well-known and popular. Due to the nature of line drawing and applique, these designs appear simple but require a great deal of attention. Even expert digitizers can struggle to perfect applique designs. When you start your next project, our applique team leader will explain some commonly used tips...

  • You'll need a stitching line for the pattern, as well as an outline for the applique design. The operator will be able to place the applique fabric witching the marked (stitched) area if the color changes after the first stitching line.
  • To secure the applique fabric and ensure that it stays in place, digitize the next stitching line just inside the previous stitching line.

  • Complete the design after the securing stitches have been digitized. The rest of the design can be arranged in any order after the applique stitch lines, depending on how you plan the stitch sequence.
